 Make Your Mark In The Sky - Design LIFT’s Limited Edition Tail - Win Flights For A Year!



LIFT has come a long way in its almost five years in the South African Aviation industry. From its humble pandemic beginnings, the airline has grown to become one of the few local airlines gracing our skies daily. As a brand that passionately involved its travellers, LIFT is now offering South Africans the chance to make their mark in the sky by designing its limited-edition birthday tail, with the winner landing free flights for a year. 


From the start, LIFT has been a brand for South Africans, by South Africans. From being the first in the country to offer truly flexible flights, to its exciting brand partnerships with the likes of Disney and Checkers Sixty60, LIFT places customer experience front and centre. 




“In honour of our 5th birthday celebration coming up on 10 December 2025, we’re calling on all South Africans to join in the celebration and submit designs for our celebratory tail design,” says Haydn Henning, LIFT Brand Manager. 


“This is especially meaningful to us, because in early 2020, when LIFT was starting up, we’d asked the country to submit their suggestions for our new airline’s name,” explains Henning. The name LIFT was put forward by eight South Africans, who saw their names being marked externally on the aircraft, beside the entrance.



“We knew back then already that LIFT was destined to be different, not just another airline. LIFT calls for travellers to be part of our journey, and we believe the airline experience should reignite the love of flying,” he adds. 


“Providing a platform for our travellers to express their vision of LIFT is fitting, as many of our passengers love taking selfies outside our aircraft, marking their travel journey while snapping our tail. We’ve seen this become a bit of a trend. Whether it’s our LIFT livery or snaps of our Disney or Checkers Sixty60 livery, travellers have really embraced LIFT as part of their journey.”


“This is a full-circle moment, where we return to include those travellers who supported us over the years, as we mark our fifth year in the domestic aviation industry.”


For an airline, celebrating five years in the industry is a real milestone, especially in an industry as tough and tumultuous as the South African airline space. “We launched in one of the most difficult periods in history, worked our way through the turbulence of lockdowns and changing regulations, and to come out on the other side thriving is a real feat,” says Henning.


“What we’d love to do now is celebrate this milestone in a way that reminds us of our beginnings – how South Africa gave us our name – and what better way to do that than ask the country to submit their designs that signify what LIFT now means to them.” 


The Details:

Do you need skills? No! No skills are needed whatsoever! Anyone can submit a design for LIFT’s tail, and in almost any format. 

  1. Download the template on our landing page
  2. Create your design and add a short bio/rationale explaining your inspiration (max 100 words)
  3. Submit your entry via our website portal by 31 October 2025

“We’re eager to see South Africa’s designs, creativity and learn what inspires them! Following the submission period, finalists will be shortlisted by our internal panel, and the contenders will go out to a voting process, where South Africa will vote for their favourite design,” concludes Henning.
