With summer around the corner, it's no surprise if you're looking at hair removal options that are the most effective and efficient.

Shaving? Only last like 2 days and leaves you with the worse stubble.
Waxing? Lasts a week which is great but then you have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks for the hair to be long enough to wax again - which means 2 or 3 weeks of hairy legs. So not cool for summer beach days.

There are other options like tweezing, threading and sugaring but these are more for specific areas like brows.

As you can tell from the title of this post, we're going to look specifically at laser hair removal.

I gave laser hair removal a try 2 years ago but I messed up one fundamental thing - you need to be consistent with it. I started it again a few months ago and this time I'm hoping to go all in.

I asked Mariam Joosab from Simply Laser for her expert opinion on all your most commonly asked questions and some specific questions I got on my instagram stories.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

1. Is it painful?
No it is not painful. However, you may experience pin pricks or slight sting during the treatment.  You can describe it as more of an irritation than painful!

2. When do you start seeing results?

It is always depends on the person and how they corporate with treatments and home care given to them.  After every treatment you do get a 10% reduction. This can be in the form of the hair reducing in the area, becoming thinner or lighter than before.

3. How many sessions do you need?

It always differs from person to person. We unfortunately can not give you a straight answer.

But generally it's between 8-12 Sessions. It also depends on the area being treated, but as a guideline its generally 8-12 more or less.

4. How pricey is it?

It may seem a bit pricey at one-go but if you think about how much money you are saving if you usually wax or thread then it is a save!

At Simply Laser, we have the most suitable prices for Laser and the area being treated.

5. How long does it last and are there any side effects?

You need to remember that it is a permanent REDUCTION and not permanent REMOVAL.
You will need to come in every 4-6 weeks for your treatments, thereafter you will be on maintenance where you come in at least 2-3 times a year if needed.
There are no side effects that we have seen or experienced so far.

6. What do you need to do before (pre-care)? What do you need to do after?

To shave the area before coming in for treatment.
Avoid any skin thinning medications or creams (Retinol, Cortisone, Roaccutane ect)
Avoid sun exposure before treatment

Avoid sun exposure
Apply post laser cream or gel to sooth area
Make sure to wear sunscreen!

7. Is laser safe to do on your face like your upper lip?

Yes it is safe.

8. Is it safe to do laser on your lady bits?

Yes it is.

9. How many sessions do you need to remove the toughest hair?

Depends on person and the hair. We can not give you a set answer

10. Will having other laser treatments done (Like laser eye surgery) affect my eyes?

No. In treatment your eyes are protected with glasses that block out the laser light.

11. Is it true that it will lighten the skin?
It has no effect on the skin. The area may sometimes appear lighter because the hair reduced in the area.
But generally speaking has no effect on the skin.
