CETAPHIL NEW PRODUCT REVIEW - WINTER SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cetaphil is well known in the skincare space for affordable products that hydrate, replenish and protect. They have a few new products on the market, which I’ll give you a review of after having trialed them for about a month.

Before I review a skin care product I like to provide some background on my skin type. I have all round dry, sensitive skin. Even though I live in a humid climate my skin is quite dry. However in winter and when I’m in a dry area (Like Bloemfontein or Jo’burg) my skin is EXTRA dry. My skin is also very sensitive and I’ve had bad reactions when a product is too harsh.

I was sent the Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion, Cetaphil Rich Night Cream and Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub with the first 2 being for dry skin and the latter being for all skin types and thought they would be perfect to trial as part of my winter skincare routine (Need that #hydration!)

Cetaphil is a sensitive skin care range - review of Cetaphil lotion and scrub

Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion

Firstly, it comes in a pump bottle which I love. It contains hyaluronic acid (retains water to keep tissue lubricated) which has tons of benefits like keeping skin hydrated and supple and reducing wrinkles, redness and keeping skin looking firm and youthful. For dry skin this is a life saver. It is also fragrance free and hypoallergenic which is perfect for someone with sensitive skin.

How did it wear? What’s great is that even though it’s so hydrating it doesn’t leave your skin oily at all. It absorbs right away (Or that could just be because my skin is super dry and super #thirsty) but also keeps your skin moisturized throughout the day. I usually find it difficult to find a day cream that’s  both hydrating but also doesn’t leave my skin looking a bit greasy throughout the day but this cream does the trick hands down.

My verdict? It’s a perfect match for my skin type – definitely repurchasing.

Cetaphil Rich Night Cream

The night cream comes in a small tub. It also contains hyaluronic acid – so you can already tell that it’s perfect for my dry skin. It’s also good for someone with sensitive skin and it’s quite light weight for a night cream. It’s definitely suitable for all skin types because white it is hydrating, it’s not too heavy.

Admittedly I prefer EXTRA hydration in my night creams and am used to opting for something heavier. But I also know that that isn’t always a good thing as heavy creams and clog your pores and cause acne and breakouts.

My verdict? A universal night cream that suits any skin type. I personally prefer heavier night creams and would use this in conjunction with another serum especially in winter when my skin needs the extra moisture.

Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub

When I saw the words “Daily Scrub” I was skeptical – I use a scrub at most once a week and the idea of a daily skin made me feel like it was going to be super drying. Well, luckily I was wrong. It’s more like a face wash that can also act as a scrub because it’s gentle. It isn’t rough like a typical scrub and only gently exfoliates.

I feel like this is the winter version of a scrub – exfoliates without drying. However I would limit it to once a day (Or once every second day for dry skin in winter) and still try to use as much hydrating products as I can.

My verdict? A gently exfoliating alternate to a face wash for all skin types but better for normal to oily skin especially in winter (Again, dry skin suffers enough with the little moisture it has in winter and you’d rather not strip that away)
